The Pregnancy Support Group/dba Spero is a faith-based, 501c3 community outreach organization that serves women in unplanned pregnancies. We do this by helping women individually overcome obstacles that prevent them from achieving the full potential of their lives. Our intent is to share the support of a loving God through word and deed so every woman becomes aware of the value of her life and the life of her baby.
In 1983 a small group of believers gathered to create Pregnancy Support Group/dba Spero. Since that time, thousands of women have been served through our ministry. We have provided (free of charge) pregnancy tests with education on pregnancy and fetal development, non-medical ultrasounds, counseling, parenting education with practical support, assistance in obtaining housing and medical care, post-abortion counseling, and help with obtaining adoption information and facilitation to clients facing unplanned pregnancies. Through the generous support of our donors, we are able to continue to grow and support new mothers and fathers in the Yolo County area.
Pregnancy Support Group/dba Spero serves over 200 families annually who face unplanned pregnancies; some, even as young as 12 years old. In addition, approximately 33% are new clients and approximately 25% are dealing with significant crises related to their pregnancy. Due to our community resources and outreach, we are able to help reduce the stress related to their crises and help move them on to a more positive direction, helping them make better choices for themselves and their babies.
We are committed to assisting women to carry to term by providing emotional support and practical assistance. Through the provision of God’s people and the community at large, women may face the future with hope and then plan constructively for themselves and their babies.
